The Lao PDR Immigration requires the APP and PNR Data in the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Department of Civil Aviation Lao PDR (DCAL) regulation, which is collected and provided by Air Carriers. The APP and PNR data are electronically transferred to the Laos Immigration system with the aim of pre-screening of air passengers.

WHAT DOES APPS MEAN?

Automated pre-screening by the Immigration Police Department of passengers and crew of travelling on an aircraft (“Travellers”) prior to arrival, departing or transiting through the Lao People’s Democratic Republic or Lao PDR.

APPS allows the Immigration Police and other border control agencies to make National security decisions about Travellers before they arrive, depart or transit through the Lao PDR.

WHT DOES PNR MEAN?

WHAT DOES PNR MEAN?

The generic name given to records created by the airlines for each flight a passenger booking

PNR may contain the passenger’s name, travel details, payment details, contact information, frequent flyer number, travel document information and all data pertaining to the booking

It can be used for:
- Immigration, Customs, Law enforcement, Security
- Identify contraband, smuggling, high-risk passengers, etc.
- To assist in risk assessment

FOR AIRPORTS

Airport Authorities receive real-time data for immediate risk analysis at passenger check-in
Data received contains more details than is currently available from the Traveller manifest
Statistical data can be used for planning and managing of resources at check-in counters
APP increases the effectiveness of airport security

If a Traveller is not allowed in country, knowing this before they embark, can save Airlines the costs of repatriating them
